Priya Raman is the editor of Best Car Insurance for New Drivers. She worked for five years as a personal-lines underwriter, where a large share of her files were households adding a newly licensed teen, and later as an underwriting trainer.
She started this site in 2023 because the questions parents asked—own policy or ours, which car, how long until it gets cheaper—had consistent answers that nobody was writing down plainly. She writes the cost, policy-structure and rate-timeline guides and reviews every page annually.
Priya lives in Columbus, Ohio with her family, including one recently licensed driver.
